Knowl Hill Garage was opened on 1st April 1936, by Gilbert and Joan Fiddler, aunt and uncle to the present proprietor, Ian Bowie, who has been involved in the day to day running of the dealership since he became proprietor in 1979. In the pre war days the A4 was the principal route from Berkshire into the Capital.
The garage then consisted of 6 petrol pumps, each delivering a different company’s product. For these were the days when petrol companies were falling over themselves to ply for the rapidly increasing domestic fuel market. Also on the site was a service area, as pre war motor cars had to be greased every 500 miles.
A Nuffield franchise was granted post war with Morris, Wolsley, MG and Riley., and small showrooms were added to display the vehicles. During the 1970s British Leyland took over Morris, Austin and Rover and in the 1980s the garage was again extended to incorporate two new large showrooms.
In 1993, Knowl Hill became a Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge franchise, which it remains to this day. The current purpose built workshop and showroom was completed in July 2000 to a very high standard and is still highly regarded by the Chrysler Group.
Our aim is to epitomise the efficiency of the modern day garage, with the warmth and personal service of a family run business. To achieve this end we have a very experienced management team and staff, headed by our Dealer Principal, Richard Gardner.
